Bioluminescence Detection on HPTLC plates
The BioLuminizer? is a new detection system from CAMAG developed specifically for toxicity screening of complex mixtures through the detection of bioluminescence on HPTLC plates. After separation the plate is immersed in a luminescent bacterial suspension. The reaction takes place within a very short time such that all zones with inhibitory or toxic effects appear as black zones on the luminescent chromatogram. This method is a fast, low-cost way of demonstrating biological activity.
The BioLuminizer? offers high resolution and sensitivity to detect even the smallest change in intensity. The system has been specially designed to balance sensitivity, cost-effectiveness and ease of use.

- Optimal environment for bioluminescent bacteria (Vibrio fischeri) is provided by the BioLuminizer’s unique HPTLC plate compartment, ensuring predictable bioluminescence for reproducible results. With no dry-out, the bacteria are kept moist and luminescent for hours, permitting long-term and differential measurements.
